Big Red is Busy

I wanted to use Big Red to quilt the Alge quilt, so I practiced a few different motifs on my practice piece.  Since it was all set up to do embroidery I played around with some initials for the purple quilt I am doing. My plan is to quilt the huge Alge quilt today.

Alge Green Cells.  A quilt for a bio major.  I basted it today and plan on starting to quilt it this weekend.  It is about 80 x 100" and very heavy.  It will have a black and grey dotted binding.  The deadline is September 16th.

Pink Cuddle Quilt

This is a DNP quilt for a houseguest.  Check out the heart applique done with the Go cutter and the program to embroider it on.

Quilted it with stippled hearts.  The back is a solid pink flannel.

Baby Quilt

I finished this one today.  It is for a friend's relative's new baby. People wrote or embroidered or decorated a square, then  I embroidered two of the squares on my machine. Sewed it all together and quilted it. Fast quilt to make.  It got me into the sewing mode, so today I started working on the borders for my scrappy trips around the world quilt.

Dorm Quilt

I finished up a huge quilt, 70 x 90. This is for a high school senior who is graduating.  Friends and family each contributed a fat quarter or larger of fabric that represented something about the student.  There was no coordination of  theme in the choices- just that they represented the student.  My task was to sew it into a quilt.

The front I added the black in the intersections. The back I wanted to make tamer in case he wanted to use the back of the quilt as the top on his bed in the dorm.  I embroidered the gps coordinates of where the student had lived, as well as the stripes being an interpretation of the flag of South Korea where he was born, and adopted from.

A community baby quilt that I am assisting in assembling was two blocks short... so Big Reg got into action.  Embroidery sure is fun.
